Edmond, OK (PRWEB) December 19, 2005

In recent years, millions of people have succumbed to the blog phenomenon, writing and publishing their own online journals about politics, relationships or their favorite TV shows. Short for ?web log,? blogs are the newest form of independent journalism ? and it seems as though everyone from pre-teens to senior citizens is jumping on the blog bandwagon. In the past, bloggers have been rewarded only with the respect and admiration of those who read their postings. Now, however, the popular web site WorldVillage promises an opportunity for serious bloggers to make some serious cash at http://blog.worldvillage.com

?Everyone has something to say, and everyone has something that they can teach to the rest of us,? says Joel Comm, founder of WorldVillage.com. ?Our web site has always been about community and family-friendly entertainment, and it only made sense to add blogging to that equation. Now our visitors can share a little bit of their own knowledge while they learn from each other.?

The best part is that members of the WorldVillage Blog Network can make money by using Google AdSense to show advertisements on their blog pages. The ads don?t interfere with the content of the blog, and bloggers stand to make 50% of the ad revenues generated by their site. ?Blogging is easy and fun,? says Comm. ?Our bloggers have a chance to make a profit and to gain tons of exposure for their writing. And all they need to do is log in once a week and talk about the things that interest them. It?s like getting paid to have a conversation with a friend.?

Participants in WorldVillage?s Blog Network can choose from a variety of subjects on which to write including health, business, the arts, family and recreation. There are currently dozens of bloggers on WorldVillage, and the site is taking applications for more. ?You?re probably not going to get rich from blogging,? admits Comm. ?But you just might make a little extra cash, meet a lot of really great people, and end up having the time of your life.?

Hyattsville, Maryland (PRWEB) June 22, 2006

A 15-year-old girl has started a breast cancer blog to raise money for charity. The site also raises awareness of the disease and provides visitors with a forum to discuss and learn more about the disease.

Annabelle Nwokenkwo, a resident of the DC metro area created Felorese.com, with the help of her brother, as a way to make her own contribution to society. The site which was created as place where females could blog about varying topics, also takes on a second purpose of raising money for women related problems or in this case $ 2 million for charities.

The program which is called FBCI or Felorese.com Breast Cancer Initiative, will begin from July ?06 to July ?07 and according to the site, the goal will be to raise the amount through a $ 5 donation from visitors to the site. Once the period is over the money raised will be distributed to breast cancer charities.

Under the plan, the money raised will be held in a Paypal account and will not be touched. Instead, to offset any cost associated with the program and running the site, Annabelle plans to seek for ad-sponsors.

Why Breast Cancer? ?It?s a disease that affects 1 in 7 females over their lifespan and it continues to kill thousands?, replied Annabelle, ?but even with the wide reach of the disease, many women are not aware of the reality and do not go for regular mammograms.?

Annabelle hopes that the program and efforts will raise awareness to the disease.

?My main goal in all this is to raise awareness about the disease,? commented Annabelle ?There is a huge possibility that I might not raise the total amount, but if I can put a spotlight on it, lives could be saved.?

For more information about the Felorese.com Breast Cancer Initiative (FBCI) and the charities it will contribute to visit http://www.felorese.com

About Felorese.com:

A Arte de Blogar – New Site About Blogging, in Portuguese

(PRWEB) January 19, 2006

“A Arte de Blogar,” Portuguese for “The Art of Blogging,” is a new blog, written in Portuguese, about how to blog.

It is located at http://blogar.dehumanizer.com.

The site's main feature is the “A Arte de Blogar” series, a multi-part, ongoing series which includes information about:

how to start a blog

what to write about, if you intend your blog to be successful and, possibly, make money

how to find content to write about

how to optimize your blog for search engines and “web spiders”

for WordPress users: which plugins there are to improve your blog's features and keep first-time visitors for a longer time

how to promote your site successfully, and attract more visitors

how to submit your blog to search engines and web directories

how to publish an RSS feed

how to make money from your blog, including Goodle AdSense ads, Chitika eMiniMalls, affiliate programs, and others

Besides the ongoing series, the blog also features “quick tip” posts, and comments on current blogging-related news.

Pedro Timoteo, the main author, says: “After months of blogging, I was dissatisfied with the performance, popularity and even quality of my own blogs, and I searched for information on blogging optimization; however, all the sites I found were in English. Though the many sites on this subject, together, were extremely insightful and useful, I became aware of an almost complete lack of such sites in the Portuguese language.”

Being himself the author of a similar series in English, “The Blogging Tips Series,” http://tlog.dehumanizer.com/the-blogging-tips-series/, Mr. Timoteo soon began the work of translating and adapting his own series to his native language and culture, extending and improving it in the process, thereby creating a new blog to help other Portuguese-language bloggers and potential bloggers.

Pedro Timoteo is a 31-year-old Portuguese systems administrator, webmaster and blogger. He lives in Tercena, Portugal.
